Security and data handling
Plan secure collection, credential handling and production access.
Security for your integration
DataSEO supports server-side collection workflows across SEO and marketing data APIs. This page explains integration practices and the documentation to review before production use. Security requirements, retention and contractual commitments should be confirmed for your account and workload.
Keep credentials on your server
The HTTP examples use credentials from server environment variables. Never put account passwords or API secrets into browser bundles, public repositories, query strings or support messages. Use HTTPS for production requests, restrict access to deployment secrets and rotate credentials if exposure is suspected.
Validate responses and task state
Check HTTP responses and task-level status codes before consuming results. A successful HTTP request can still contain a failed task. Handle retries, timeouts and usage limits explicitly, and separate collection failures from changes in the underlying data.
Define data handling requirements
Document the fields, sources, jurisdictions and processing purposes your workflow requires. Minimize personal information in query inputs and logs. A public source does not remove privacy, licensing or source-platform obligations. Review the applicable service agreement and data-processing requirements before sending sensitive information.
Retention, delivery and access
Choose live requests, queued tasks or database delivery according to the workflow. Confirm task availability, result retention, access arrangements and deletion requirements in the relevant production documentation. The marketing website does not establish a universal retention period or service-level guarantee.
Website controls and illustrative demos
This website is delivered over HTTPS through Cloudflare. Its interactive examples use local illustrative records; they do not transmit queries to a production API. The demo contact form does not send messages. Our privacy policy describes website request information and correspondence.
Procurement and responsible reporting
For integration security questions, procurement documentation or a suspected vulnerability, email info@spotbo.com and identify DataSEO in the subject. Include a concise description and non-sensitive evidence. Do not send production secrets or other people’s personal information. Do not access data or systems without authorization.
